State Dept Says Free Is Too Expensive

U.S. State Department says Too Expensive to Implement and Maintain

hardwarezone.com Apparently, a senior member of the U.S. State Department thinks it will be too expensive to switch to Firefox. This comment was made at a U.S. State Department town hall meeting, when a staff asked if it was possible to use Firefox at work.

Pat Kennedy, a senior member of the State Department, was obviously oblivious to the fact that the popular browser is available for free and commented that it was an "expense question".

Tweaktown -We have another contender for the stupid comment of the day. This one was made by a member of the US government. It serves not only to entertain us but also to show a disconnect between the powers-that-be and reality. It seems that a senior member for the US State Department feels the Firefox, the free Internet Explorer Alternative, is too expensive to implement and maintain.

A transcript of the meeting can be found here.
