OZ Govt Anti-drug Campaign's 'Worrying' Link to Scientology

List of many non-profit organizations that are closely linked to Scientology. Many of these organizations describe themselves as brisbanetimes ~ Concerns have been raised about a partnership between the Federal Government and a drug awareness group run by members of the controversial Church of Scientology.

Corporate lawyer and researcher Grainne O’Donovan said the partnership could potentially be used by the church, through Drug Free Ambassadors Australia (DFAA), to try to recruit members from schools and youth groups.

The DFAA - sponsored by Scientology - is a partner in the government’s National Compact set up by former Prime Minister, Kevin Rudd in March within the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR).

The DEEWR website says the National Compact is an agreement between government and "not-for-profit" community organizations to provide "real input into government policy and program delivery".
Professor Ian Hickie
Ms O’Donovan said it was “worrying” that the DFAA was in a position to influence government policy, considering serious widespread concerns about its practices. "They are citing the entry on the government’s Harm Prevention Register in written materials, giving the impression they are a government-approved charity," she said. “The ambassadors aren’t just against illegal drugs they are also against approved medical drugs and psychiatry."

Professor Ian Hickie [photo], a psychiatrist and executive director of the Brain and Mind Research Institute, said some of the DFAA’s information was "entirely inappropriate and ill-informed". He added the group confused illicit drugs and medically-approved ones and its website implied national endorsement of "this disreputable position".

Queensland Secondary Principals’ Association president, Norm Fuller said the DFAA material about illegal drugs "gives some relevant information". "The material associated with prescription drugs sends a different message that would need to be questioned," he said."The fact that this material is associated with a specific group, such as the Church of Scientology, brings into question their reasons and purpose." Australian Heroin Diaries: Foundation For A Drug Free World
Australian National Archives: The 'Australian Heroin Diaries' was selected for preservation by the National Library of Australia. The FDFW is run by the Church of Scientology and is closely linked to the youth orientated Drug-Free Marshals program or Drug-Free Ambassadors as it’s called in Australia. You may have heard of Carly Crutchfield, Scientologist, Drug Free Ambassador and real estate investment adviser.

The blurring of who is who and who runs what is how the Church of Scientology can sneak into schools and community groups when needed or promote their church when they want publicity. Maybe that’s why the campaign commercials and booklets are readily available at the Scientology website but the link to Scientology hardly gets a mention at FDFW. The official blurb for FDFW from their website is:
The Foundation for a Drug-Free World is a secular, nonprofit organization that empowers youth and adults with factual information about drugs so they can make informed decisions to be drug-free.
Secular? factual information? Like all front groups for Scientology, it’s really about expanding the flock. [more >>>]

TodayTonight: Australia's Narconon/Scientology Connection

Narconon: Hubbard's Junk Science
L. Ron Hubbard takes an extreme line on the benefit of drugs of all kinds. A wide range of otherwise innocuous drugs, including aspirin and caffeine, are lumped together with recognisably dangerous substances such as heroin and LSD. Narconon's explanation of drug effects relies on Scientology dogma rather than science.

l ron hubbard junk scienceHubbard also claims, in defiance of known medical science, that non-fat-soluble drugs and toxins can also be stored in and released from fatty tissue. The most glaring example is of alcohol, a water-soluble drug which is flushed out of the body in a matter of hours (as anyone who has done a bar crawl will have discovered when their bladder begins to complain).

It is physically impossible for alcohol to be stored in body fat. Despite this, Hubbard still refers to "people have [who] reported re-experiencing various effects of past drugs, medicine, alcohol or other stimulants or sedatives." This is a perfect example of Hubbard's sloppy and unscientific research - because people reported re-experiencing the effects of alcohol, it must actually be alcohol that they were re-experiencing, despite the awkward fact that alcohol is not stored in the body.

Hubbard also made fundamental mistakes about the nature of niacin. The vitamin is supposed to stimulate the release of fat into the bloodstream in order to flush out "stored" drugs. In fact, large doses of niacin actually block the release of fat from fat cells; as an antilipidemic, it is probably the last substance one would use for Hubbard's declared purpose.

Most abused drugs are eliminated from the body by detoxification through the liver, the kidney, or occasionally the lungs. Even if Hubbard's therapy did manage to flush toxins out of fat tissue and into the bloodstream, they would pass through the kidneys and so be excreted in urine. They would have no chance to enter the sweat glands en masse. This point is usually glossed over by Narconon's handful of medical supporters. [more >>>]

New OT VIII Graduation, Sounds Like AA Meeting

freewinds hides in colombia
From xenuTV and WWP, the following films are from OT8 graduations aboard the blue asbestos infested Scientology cruise ship, Freewinds.

Take a gander at these homo novus, super beings that are supposed to have perfect recall, reciting, not from memory, but reading prepared statements, about their wins at becoming the most in-debt super beings on the planet.

But it sounds more like an AA meeting, than the graduation from Super Hero U. The one that seems to be missing is from L.Ron himself:

ron: Hi, my name is Ron.
croud: Hi Ron!
ron: I'm an alcholi.... I mean an OT eight....
croud: [clapping]

But my question is, how long before they start going off the deep-end, like George, from an earlier post.

Scientology: Insane In The Brain [video/mp3]

Scientology Jargon in Action
George Baillie
Gawker: "Scientology's quest to perfect humanity never rests, not even on the weekend. Which is why this member of the cult's elite "Sea Org" spent his Saturday yelling at an infidel about his inevitable and pathetic death..."

What better fodder to create a remix titled Insane In The Brain. The rambling OT provides all the lyrics needed to fulfill this. After all the views at YouTube (51,997 at last count), can be viewed here, with the help of WWP and Digg, you have to ask yourself, did this guy pull this in? (more scientology jargon).

What Is Scientology? Really?

Ran across one of the best non-rant explanations of what Scientology is really about in a comment section at blog.beliefnet, by Janie.

The Scientology cult has been trying for decades to achieve legitimacy as a "religion." They have a pretty good PR machine, so by this point in time many people think that Scientology is just a weird & wacky but ultimately harmless fringe religion.

The "Church" of Scientology is in reality a vicious and dangerous cult and criminal racket that only masquerades as a religion. Its purpose is to make money. It practices a variety of mind-control techniques on people lured into its midst to gain control over their money and their lives. It was started in the 1950s by a science fiction writer named L. Ron Hubbard in fulfillment to his declared aim to start a religion to make money.

Scientology is a confused concoction of crackpot, dangerously applied psychotherapy, oversimplified, idiotic and inapplicable rules and ideas and science-fiction drivel that is presented to its members (at the "advanced" levels) as profound spiritual truth.

The results of applying their crackpot psychotherapy (called "auditing") is to weaken the mind. The mind goes from a rational state to an irrational one as the delusional contents of the subconscious mind are brought to the surface and are assumed to be valid. It also makes a person more susceptible to suggestion since it submerges the critical thinking faculties of the mind into a partial subconscious state.

It results in a permanent light hypnotic trance, and thenceforth that person can be more easily controlled. The person will, to a much greater extent, believe and do whatever they are told. And of course this is used to the full in persuading them to hand over further money and dedicating themselves further to the cult.

The results of applying their oversimplified and inapplicable rules in life is to lose the ability to think rationally and logically. A person loses the ability to think for themselves and so they lose the ability to challenge incorrect ideas. This makes them easier to control. It also isolates and alienates the person from society so that they withdraw from normal society and into their "Scientology" society.

This further increases their susceptibility to the influence of their group. They end up being afraid of society, believing all society to be controlled by a group of drug companies, psychiatrists and financiers all of whom report to more remote masters. In other words they are in a state of mass paranoia. They therefore avoid reading newspapers and the like since they fear it will disturb their safe Scientology world. It is a downward spiral into madness.

The science fiction content of Scientology is revealed to them after they have reached the state they call "Clear", meaning freed from the aberrations of the mind. However, perhaps "brainwashed" would be a more applicable word to describe the mental state of someone who has survived the near entire delusional contents of their subconscious mind brought to the surface and presented to them as "truth". On the "advanced" levels (called OT levels) above the state of "Clear" they encounter the story of Xenu.

Xenu was supposed to have gathered up all the overpopulation in this sector of the galaxy, brought them to Earth and then exterminated them using hydrogen bombs. The souls of these murdered people are then supposed to infest the body of everyone. They are called "body thetans". On the advanced levels of Scientology a person "audits out" these body thetans telepathically by getting them to re-experience their being exterminated by hydrogen bombs. So people on these levels assume all their bad thoughts and faulty memories are due to these body thetans infesting every part of their body and influencing them mentally. Many Scientologists go raving mad at this point if they have not done so already.

On a very superficial level, Scientology seems reasonable. The insane content of it is only revealed to a person when the early stuff has done its work and made them more susceptible. After a short while a person "believes" that Scientology is doing them good. They are then persuaded to help their new-found group further by donating money and/or working for the organization for almost no money. Many people do exactly that.

"Ethics" is used to good effect to trap a person. A person's natural tendency to do good is worked upon. Yes - they want to be more ethical, but what is ethical? This is where a clever trick is pulled! "Ethics" is redefined by Scientology in such a way that to be ethical is to be a better Scientologist and obey the "church". Young people, not yet made cynical through the machinations of life and politics, are very keen to contribute to the world and to be ethical. So the "ethics" trick works easily into persuading them to join the "church".

Many of them join an elite group called the "Sea Org" where they become brainwashed slaves. There they work a hundred hour week for almost no pay. There they are subject to every cruel whim of their masters. It is a living hell that they endure because of the conditioning they have received and this now perverted sense of ethics that they have accepted.

The "Sea Org" is the ultimate in brainwashed slavery. They are expected to work harder and harder to achieve ever higher targets of production. If they fail to meet their targets there are various penalties. One of them is to be put onto a diet of beans and rice and to miss sleep. Another is to be sentenced to a period on the RPF (Rehabilitation Project Force). This is the equivalent to "hard labour". Such is the extent of their brainwashing that they actually write "success stories" when they complete their sentences.

There is no doubt at all that L. Ron Hubbard incorporated brainwashing techniques into Scientology to put people under his control. He even wrote a "brainwashing manual" which is still in existence today. However there was a cruel twist in his scheme. He fell victim of it himself. In creating his devoted slaves, the Sea Org, he created an audience that believed every word he said.
spin
Now L. Ron Hubbard had an over-active imagination plus delusions of grandeur. The negative feedback he would obtain by being part of normal society was replaced by the positive feedback from his devoted followers. Through this his imagination got the better of him and combined with his delusions of grandeur, his thinking became increasingly bizarre which, on acceptance, led on to more bizarre thinking and the idea that he and Scientology had the job of saving the entire universe.

He wanted to take over the world in order to further Scientology's aims to save the universe and so branches of Scientology were set up to try to influence governments and gain positions where they could influence to world to a high degree.

So, what started out as a mass confidence trick backed up with brainwashing became a monstrous and insane organization with fantastic, fanatical ideals. Because of this change, Scientology survived the death of their founder. It is like a runaway monster machine that tramples on society and people's lives that is very difficult to stop.

Scientology Says "Blow Your Brains Out"

bang-bang, shoot-shoot, happiness is a warm gun, yeah-yeah

Jan08 thesun.co.uk: A controversial Scientology orientation film, featuring wooden acting and cheesy dramatic music, is said to have been made in 1996 and filmed at one of the church's introductions.

It was pulled (in 2008) from websites such as YouTube after the church complained. A Church of Scientology spokesman was quoted as saying the film was "stolen" and put up on the web.

The video, thought to have been made in 1996, features Hollywood actors John Travolta and Kirstie Alley, who says without Scientology, "I would be dead".

The film also rubbishes modern medicine, saying, "pyschology and psychiatry are proven failures ... stone age." And controversially, the narrator says it is up to the viewer to make the decision about becoming a Scientologist - likening it to suicide.

The narrator says, "If you leave this room after seeing this film, and walk out and never mention Scientology again, you are perfectly free to do so. "It would be stupid, but you can do it. You can also dive off a bridge or blow your brains out - that is your choice. But, if you ... continue with Scientology, we will be very happy with you - and you will be very happy with you."

Suri going to Scienstupidity School

So, little Suri Cruise is going to Scientology school. Isn't that nice.

The school is located in Calabasas, California and actually funded by Will Smith. Its curriculum includes: mathematics, literacy, Spanish, karate, yoga, robotics, technology, etiquette, art, and living skills.

Doesn't sound so bad, right? Yes, it does, according to David S. Touretzky, Professor of Computer Science at Carnegie Mellon University. He's been critical of the school's use of "study technology," telling The Los Angeles Times last year:

"There is no reputable educator anywhere who endorses [study technology]. What happens is that children are inculcated with Scientology jargon and are led to regard L.R. Hubbard as an authority figure. They are laying the groundwork for later bringing people into Scientology."

Tom's going to be shelling out $12,000 a year so that the Scilons can cram a bunch crap inside her pretty little head. What type of crap, you ask? Well, here's an few examples of the kind of logic L.Ron Hubbard uses to brainwash his followers below:

Weird Science

Those crazy Scientologists and their pseudo-science lectures. Lets learn what they want us to think our brain is used for, you'll be quite shocked. Excerpts from Anatomy of the Human Mind, by L.Ron Hubbard.
