Tea Party Website Invaded By “Anonymous” Internet Group

4chan teabag i'd hit it4chan teabag love it theregister.co.uk ~ A website run by the conservative Tea Party movement was overrun by the denizens of 4chan on Tuesday.

Website vulnerabilities on the official teaparty.org website allowed pranksters to divert surfers landing on the photo section of the site to smut and shock sites.

It's unclear what website security shortcomings were exploited in that attack and whether these are now closed. Boing Boing is hosting some screenshots [click on thumbs on right].[more]

mediaite.com ~ All through last night, the media section of TeaParty.org, an official Tea Party website, was bombarded with new users who filled the photo section with shocking and offensive pictures (Example: a very, very NSFW photoshop of Sarah Palin). The pictures were so shocking that the site almost began to look like the outlaw imageboard 4chan. Now, I wonder who could have done it. I wonder… [list of more screenshots listed @ reddit].

It was almost definitely 4chan. For those of you that don’t know, 4chan (namely Whoops.(1&2) Not supposed to talk about them. ) is an anonymous messageboard where people post ribald stories, jokes, and pictures and generally try to out gross each other. They also are highly organized and have used their internet powers for extreme good and also, occasionally, a little bit of evil lulz.[more]

Scientology + Politics = 'Do Not Want' [video]

tom cruise prison sweetheart HuffPo ~ Nevada GOP Senate Hopeful Features Prisoner Massages, Mani-Pedis In Attack Ad: Sue Lowden, Nevada's GOP U.S. Senate favorite, goes all crazy on her Tea Party rival Sharron Angle for the Scientology prison massages (better known as the Narconon Purif) she loves!

lasvegassun ~ Angle has removed the claim that she, along with actresses Kelly Preston and Jenna Elfman, approached Sen. John Ensign to sponsor legislation prohibiting school employees from requiring students to take psychotropic drugs, such as anti-depressants. Preston and Elfman are high-profile members of the Church of Scientology, which does not believe in the use of psychiatric drugs.

Instead, Angle’s website, sharronangle.com, says only that Ensign sponsored a bill “at Angle’s request.”

The apparent scrubbing of her website of the potentially controversial issue — critics of Scientology call it a cult — comes as Angle gains ground in the Republican primary, which has narrowed to a three-way race to take on Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid.

If Angle had done a little homework on the net, instead of getting all starry-eyed around Scientology's Hollywood spokesholes, she might have learned that neighboring New Mexico had already dealt with that style group, minus the promised results.

Albuquerque pulls plug on Second Chance
krqe.com ~ A controversial drug-rehab center organized on elements of Scientology is being evicted for housing inmates convicted of violent crimes, Albuquerque's mayor said Friday. The eviction notice gives Second Chance until the end of the next month to wind down the operation housed in a former city jail on Albuquerque's northwest mesa. So far there has been no response from Second Chance.

For the 46 inmates now housed at Second Chance it appears that in a matter of weeks they'll be sent back to the county jails from which they came. For those who work there, the future is less certain. "They simply didn't live up to their end of the agreement," Mayor Martin Chávez said. Chávez ordered the lease terminated, and eviction proceedings have begun. [more @ krqe]
