Scientology leader David Miscavige's twin sister faces marijuana charges
Mugshot: Denise Miscavige Gentile, 53
TampaBay Times [6.29.13] Denise [Miscavige] Gentile, of Clearwater, is a well-known Scientologist and the twin sister of the church's worldwide leader, David Miscavige.
Her marijuana arrest is messy for the church because Scientologists
have zero tolerance for mind-altering substances. They believe street
drugs and psychiatric medicines make spiritual growth impossible.
"The single most destructive element present in our current culture," church founder L. Ron Hubbard wrote, "is drugs."
The church treatise What Is Scientology? flatly states: "Scientologists are … drug-free (none at all use illegal street drugs)."
Denise [Miscavige] Gentile's pot bust has remained a secret. But it is just the beginning of the story.
Miscavige's sister has been involved with drug users and drug sellers for years, an investigation by the Tampa Bay Times reveals. [story continued @ TB]
Tampa Bay Times Portrays Twin Sister of Scientology Leader as Dope-Smoking Slumlord
Denise's twin brother, David Miscavige
tonyortega.org [6.30.13] Joe Childs at the Tampa Bay Times sent reverberations across the world of Scientology-watching last night with his stunning investigative story about the arrest of Denise Gentile, twin sister to Scientology leader David Miscavige.
A dope-smoking slumlord is certainly not the preferred image for
Scientology’s ruling family. As Childs points out, Scientology not only
eschews drug use, but touts its various anti-drug campaigns. In recent
months, however, David Miscavige has had to contend with numerous image
problems involving his own family, which only exacerbate the numerous
crises currently gripping Scientology itself. [story continued @ tonyortega.org ]

And Chanologists, an arm of Anonymous, always at the ready with the meme-generator and their tongue-and-cheek humor when such events like the above occur, chime in:
thedenverchannel.com ~ After just two hours of deliberation, an Adams County jury found Rev.Rex Fowler guilty of first-degree murder in the slaying of his former business partner. Fowler, 59, was immediately sentenced to life in prison.
The fact that Fowler shot and killed Thomas Ciancio was never in dispute. What was in dispute was whether the act was deliberate and pre-planned. Prosecutors argued the fact that Ciancio was shot three times in the face could not be an accident -- it was an execution.
"Mr. Fowler waited until (Ciancio) signed that separation agreement before he took his life. Looked him right in the eye when he pulled that first trigger. He shot him right in the face! What does that tell you about deliberation?" prosecutor Dave Young asked the jury during closing arguments in the trial.
The defense argued that Fowler went to the office that day, armed with a gun, to kill himself.
"We're not trying to justify it. (Ciancio's) death is a tragedy but it is not first-degree murder," said Sarah Quinn, one of Fowler's two defense attorneys. "(Fowler's) only plan was to take his own life. No intent. No deliberation. It was just a tragic reaction by Mr. Fowler."
The jury had to decide if Fowler was guilty of first-degree or second-degree murder. District Court Judge Francis Wasserman dismissed defense requests to include crime of passion and other lesser offenses in the jury instructions.
Ciancio died Dec. 30, 2009 while he went to the office to collect a severance check from Fowler Software Design. Ciancio had decided to leave the company after the founder, 58-year-old Rex Fowler, had diverted $175,000 in company funds to Fowler's church, the Church of Scientology.
He and Fowler, the founder of the company, were the only two people inside the lower-level office near 84th Avenue and Interstate 25 that day.
Young and a fellow prosecutor waved a replica handgun during closing arguments to demonstrate the actions they allege Fowler took in putting three bullets into Ciancio's head. "If you fire three shots into someone's head it is your intent to kill," said prosecutor Yvette Werner.
"It is your conscious objective for them to be dead. (The defense) wants you to believe it was ... what? 'Oops! Oops! Oops!'" she said pointing a replica gun towards wall."Does that make any sense to you? Of course not."
Earlier Friday, Dr. James Wilkerson IV told the jury Ciancio had been shot "within two feet" -- and two of the shots were to the back of the head. [more...]
William Rex Fowler: $200K Scientology donor found guilty of murdering Thomas Ciancio
blogs.westword.com ~ An Adams County District judge is trying to keep Scientology from overwhelming the William Rex Fowler murder trial, even though Fowler's software company was reportedly in trouble because he gave around $200,000 to the sect. But that hasn't prevented anti-Scientology forums from linking the object of their derision to the late 2009 slaying of Thomas Ciancio, Fowler's ex-partner. [more...]

Background of stories above. Aired: 1/22/10
thestar.com ~ The YouTube user, who uses the alias “theforcebewithme,” can’t even remember writing the specific comment that now has him defending a $1.2 million defamation lawsuit launched by Toronto’s now notorious “Officer Bubbles.”
Const. Adam Josephs seeks to compel the Google-owned YouTube to reveal the identity of the person who created and posted the videos as well as any information it has on the 24 other users who made allegedly defamatory remarks.
The case highlights a collision between two worlds: The wild-west of social media, where people under aliases throw insults without pause versus the laws of the old media world, where people are held accountable for everything they write.
'Officer Bubbles': How he met Ms. Streisand
Bubbles Bathing In Media Attention (Part2)
Well. Officer Bubbles. It seems you just can't get enough of that internet notoriety. You not only focused the world's (short-spanned) attention to the G20 demonstrations last summer by acting like a pompous idiot, but by suing YouTube, you've managed to conger up a second Streisand Effect for you and your fellow police officers in Toronto. ATTABOY! Way to stay off the radar. MEMEs are forming in basment-dwelling imaginations as we speak, I'm sure. Enjoy your fail, Bubbles.
The Whole "Officer Bubbles" Story:
Toronto Neighborhood Responds to G20 Policing
Funny thing about Streisand Effects. They bring in the attention of others who were too busy with their own life, like me. I must have been buried in some other project, because I totally missed this happening last summer. But thanks to Officer Bubbles, the world has a reason to go back and watch everything that went on at the G20 Summit. Thanks Const. Adam Josephs. Without you, I, and others, might have missed all these other police videos.
WWP ~ A video update was posted on YouTube by anonSParrow giving an oral report of what has happened thus far and which direction his legal Scientology snafu is leading.
The site link he mentions in the video is www.dccourts.gov and his instructions are: Search for my name, Brian Mandigo, for court details.
This is primarily a recap aimed at those who don't want to search through all the TL;TR on WWP (or on here) and want a quick synopsis of his situation.
But there are a few new details (and props) peppered throughout the report.

"Law enforcement is necessary. As a species we haven’t evolved past needing that. Fight the Power is not about fighting authority. it’s not that at all. It’s about fighting abuse of power.[2]"
Scientologists could very well cause the next ice-age with the amount of chilling-effect it produces by perverting the legal system.
Scientology has been caught arranging the same stalking trap that was used in Washington DC in an attempt to influence a chilling effect on protesters in other cities and countries by abusing the legal system.
One such attempt, oddly enough, seems to be pulled straight from the Matrix's Red Dress scene. Note: Conversation in the YouTube clip parallels the Cult of Scientology so closely, it's uncanny.

The book earned her more negative attention from members of the Church, and that same year saw a second lawsuit filed in Los Angeles Superior Court against her by the church. Further lawsuits and countersuits followed throughout the years, totaling nineteen suits from all over the world that Scientology instituted against Cooper, and three counterclaims that she instituted.
Through the years as she continued to expose the Church, Paulette Cooper was the target not only of litigation but of several harassment campaigns including a Scientology campaign known as Operation Freakout, the goal of which was to deter Cooper from criticism of Scientology by having her "incarcerated in a mental institution or jail or at least to hit her so hard that she drops her attacks." In a previous campaign titled Operation Dynamite the church sent itself forged bomb threats, purportedly from Cooper, using her typewriter and paper with her fingerprints on it; further plans included bomb threats to be sent to Henry Kissinger. The Church's campaign was discovered when the FBI raided Scientology offices in 1977 and recovered documents relating to the operation. The Church finally agreed to an out-of-court settlement with Cooper in 1985 in exchange for her discontinuing her legal actions against Scientology.
Woman guilty of assault. Victim, a Church of Scientology protester, relieved chronicle herald ~ An assault against a masked demonstrator protesting against the Church of Scientology has landed a Halifax woman in legal trouble.Nicole Cassandra Andersen, a 40-year-old personal-care worker, pleaded guilty in Halifax on Tuesday to assault for punching the protester in the face near the Scientology Life Improvement Center on Dutch Village Road on Sept. 19. [YouTube video of incident]
Chronicle Herald Parrots Scientology's Spin A spokeswoman for the Church of Scientology said Wednesday that Andersen is not a member of the church in Halifax and does not have any affiliation with it. "The answer is no," said Pat Felske, a Church of Scientology spokeswoman in Toronto, "As a matter of fact, when the incident occurred, no one was at the church at all". In the United States [notice no mention of Canada], there have been several convictions of Anonymous members for cyber attacks and harassment of members of the Church of Scientology, Felske said, adding,"We don’t believe in violence. Our creed [more on this later] is a civilization without insanity, without criminality and without war."
Paper Disappoints Protester Seems our young protester/victim is none to happy with the way his local paper handled the story, as we can see by his email reply [posted on WWPlinks added by ODIT]:
Hi Clare, I have to say I'm a bit disappointed in your article.
I can't really believe you'd allow an organization convicted of infiltrating the Canadian government to make a statement like that without clarifying for your readers that Scientology has a long criminal history in this country... especially when no members of Anonymous have been convicted of any wrong doing in Canada and that we have a great relationship with law enforcement.
Also, I believe I was fairly clear in why I am revealing my name now, and that is because I am being harassed by the Church of Scientology over this incident, as I said to you on the phone "I feel i have to roll with it now". They did not have my name until I was punched and then followed home.
I feel I'm going to have to write a response. I wanted to give you a heads up before I did. I do appreciate your interest in this story, but I can't believe you'd allow Scientology (just recently convicted of fraud as an organization in France over their 'religious' practices) to make an unqualified statement like that.
I'm sorry but I think it's irresponsible journalism, and I plan on saying so. Regards, XXXX
Did You Order The Code-Red? Now, back to that statement about about Scientology's creed, as brought up in this post at WWP,
‘We don’t believe in violence. Our creed is a civilization without insanity, without criminality and without war.’~ Pat Felske-Spokeswoman, Church of Scientology. But, seems they also have a conflicting Code of Honor, in it which states: • 12) Never fear to hurt another in a just cause.
Red Flags and that Fishy Smell And as for Pat Felske's statement on whether or not Andersen is member of their group, well red flags are 'a fly'n all over at WWP's many think tanks (along with a strange fishy odor). Yes, our paperwork sleuths are chomping at their shovel handles, because Nicole Andersen's courtroom appearance seems to have raised some questions:
eg: • Did her lawyer mean that she has just Now, suddenly, become a caregiver to a disabled person? That would be a little too convenient (sympathy bid). • Did you see anything in writing that she actually signed or that lawyer said she actually agreed to see a psychiatrist? • But if she is actually now by law assigned to see a psychiatrist, wait. Would not that disqualify her from being a caregiver to severely disabled? • And ex-scientologists chiming in how this is all to familiar as to how some go off the deep end.
Not to worry, though. There are plenty of anons over there to keep the facts straight, and not let the conversations get lost in conjecture. But we'll be keeping an eye on it, and report back anything interesting.
11th Hour: Female Aggressor Changes Plea To Guilty [recap] nationalpost.com ~ On Saturday, September 19, 2009 around 12:30pm AST, a small group met for a routine Scientology protest in Halifax in a vacant lot across from the Church of Scientology Mission at 3441 Dutch Village Rd.
As usual, many were wearing suits and had donned their Guy Fawkes masks, made famous by the film V for Vendetta. It was running just like dozens of others had around the world. They were holding banners with slogans like "Scientology is a Cult" and "whoisdavidmiscavige.com."
Miscavige is Chairman of the Board of Scientology's Religious Technology Center and the acknowledged international leader of the Church. Critics accuse him of physical and emotional abuse against his staff, and a number of lawsuits filed against the church state this behavior is responsible for fostering an overall abusive environment.
Within ten minutes, protesters were approached by a woman, Nicole Cassandra Andersen, who began making claims that they were there to promote hate and should let others believe what they want.
Chris, one of the protesters, remained polite, insisting they were promoting awareness. "This isn't about beliefs," he said. "We are protesting the crimes of this individual," referring to Miscavige.
After making additional comments under her breath and taking photos with a cell phone camera, Andersen resumed what Chris describes as Scientology's "bullbaiting tactics," calling him an idiot, a coward, a fu--er.
At one point when Andersen went on to harangue others, Chris moved closer and asked her to keep the conversation on him. At this point Andersen claimed he was intruding into her personal space. Andersen held up three fingers to his eye. Chris mimicked her action. Andersen then mock punched him in the face and groin, followed by a real punch to Chris' mask-covered cheek. Donkey Punched: The Assault Video Scientology mission on Dutch Village Rd. in Halifax, Nova Scotia. The internet-based group Anonymous (Chanology division) protests to raise public awareness about the crimes the cult of Scientology practices. Within a few minutes, a woman, named Nicole Andersen, approached the group and accosted them for "promoting hate." She has since pleaded guilty to assaulting a protester.
Court Appearance: November 4th, 2009 [summary courtesy of WWP] Police were called, and Andersen started her journey into Nova Scotia's legal system. Andersen, aged 40, appeared in courtroom #3 at Spring Garden Road in Halifax on a charge of assault against the anonymous protester.
The crown prosecutor was asked by the judge how he wished to proceed with the charge, he replied 'summarily'. As explained earlier this means it will likely be a trial by judge.
Nicole Andersen was asked if she had sought advice from a lawyer, she replied 'no'. She appeared to be nervous and was behaving in a somewhat odd fashion, lurching back and forth from the microphone. The judge asked if she had been given the defense disclosure package, she replied no and it was handed to her in court as she appeared before the microphone.
She was asked if she would like to enter a plea at this time, and she replied that she knew how she wished to plead, and that would be not guilty.
"Will you be seeking the council of a lawyer at this time?" "No." Andersen stated, "I know my story well." "Ms. Andersen, it does not matter if you know your story well. What matters is that you know the law in order to properly defend yourself." "Okay.", she replied. "Would you like to receive advice from a private lawyer or from legal aid?" Changing her mind, stated, "Legal aid, definitely legal aid." A quick discussion was had on when appointments are available from legal aid, and with this in mind her next court appearance was scheduled.
Court Appearance: May 4th, 2010 [summary posted by assault victim @ WWP] Today was the scheduled hearing for Nicole Cassandra Andersen, charged with assault against myself. The court session was brief for the most part, mostly just delays surrounding the plea and talking to the prosecutors. Nicole Andersen changed her plea at the 11th hour to guilty, so it's over!
I did not get to testify, but I have submitted my victim impact statement which will be taken into account at the sentencing hearing which has been set for July. She is unlikely to do time, but will indeed likely have many restrictions put on her.
I'm sure there are public documents, I'll be providing incident numbers for research purposes soon.
I guess Anonymous will now have to use a new credo in Nova Scotia, after the Andersen protest affair, lol.

No bail for accused murderer Rex Fowler denverpost.com ~ An Adams County District Court judge today ordered William Rex Fowler, 58, to face first-degree murder charges in the Dec. 31, 2009 shooting of Tom Ciancio.
Judge Francis Wasserman also denied bail for Fowler.
Fowler is accused of shooting Ciancio, 42, three times in the head with a 9mm Glock handgun when Ciancio came to Fowler Software in unincorporated Adams County to collect $9,900 in severance pay. Ciancio, who was Fowler Software's chief operating officer, resigned Nov. 23 in a dispute over the way the company was being managed.
Prosecutors said during a preliminary hearing today that Fowler lured Ciancio to his office to commit a murder suicide. Investigators say Fowler shot Ciancio three times in the head and then shot himself under the chin in attempt to end his own life.
Prosecutors said they found notes written by Fowler to his wife, and also a living will they say indicated he was going to commit suicide after taking Ciancio's life.
"Fowler took care of his own business before he took care of his own suicide," Young said. Fowler's attorney said at worst, her client should face second-degree murder charges. "This was a professional dispute and it was not based on first-degree murder," defense attorney Sarah Quinn said.
And there's more: CBS4 Denver has the following to add: "...Another detective testified that witnesses stated both Ciancio and another employee suspected that Fowler had embezzled money from the company for his church. Fowler was a practicing Scientologist. Ciancio was so upset that he decided to resign and was going back to work at Fowler Software Design to pick up his final check on the day he was killed..."

DenverPost ~ A judge ordered an Adams County software firm founder accused of killing his ex-business partner to provide a DNA sample Monday.
Adams County District Judge Francis Wasserman also set an April 9 preliminary hearing for William Rex Fowler, 58, who made his first court appearance in a blue jumpsuit and shackles.
Fowler is charged with premeditated, first-degree murder in connection with the Dec. 30 shooting of Ciancio, who had gone to Fowler Software Design to receive a $9,900 severance payment, according to an investigator's statement supporting Fowler's arrest warrant.
Ciancio was shot three times in the head with a 9mm Glock handgun that Fowler received as a 2007 Christmas present from his son, the arrest affidavit stated.
Investigators said Fowler survived a gunshot wound from a bullet that entered under his chin and exited the top of his head.
Employees told investigators that Ciancio quit the software firm in November because he was upset that Fowler had allegedly taken $200,000 from the company "without permission and gave it to a church or some type of charity," the arrest warrant affidavit said.
On Monday, prosecutors also requested access to Fowler's medical records, but his defense attorney Sarah Quinn objected. Judge Wasserman granted Quinn time to file a written motion opposing release of the medical records before he rules on the issue next week.
Fowler's arrest warrant report has been published on several web sites critical of Scientology, a religion popular among some Hollywood film stars which was founded in the 1950s by the late science fiction author, L. Ron Hubbard.
Fowler, who goes by Rex, has described himself as a Scientology minister and publicly praised the rewards of his 36-year commitment to the faith.
Second US man admits DDoS attack on Scientology From all the hype on this story, you'd think the FBI and Scientology, after two years, had single-handedly cracked the secretive underworld of Anonymous by arresting and placing in custody two of upper echelon leaders (or final boss(es) of the internet) that they believe are controlling the, often stereotyped nefarious, group (or hackers on steroids, lol).
theregister.co.uk ~ Mettenbrink, 20, of Nebraska, said he downloaded custom software from a message board controlled by the anti-Scientology group known as Anonymous with the intent of inflicting damage to the COS, or Church of Scientology. He was the second individual to plead guilty in the attacks. In October 2008, Guzner, then an 18-year-old from Verona, New Jersey, admitted he also helped carry out the attacks.
A poster at slashdot.org sums it up nicely: You're missing the idea behind Anonymous. We are not Anonymous because we hide our names. We are Anonymous because our names mean nothing. We are disillusioned mundane people who are nothing and mean nothing. We are something only as a Legion. We are fans of Fight Club, but without illusions, a leader or a purpose. And with more malice. We are tired with the system, and break it when and where we can. Our only powers are numbers, variety and unpredictability. Losing one or two of us means nothing.
They try to give a name to the threat, by providing the name of one of the people behind the Anonymous. That's like trying to fight avalanche by removing two rocks from it and giving them names.
Where's Your Head At? Seems they just can't wrap their heads around this fact: Anonymous is a constantly sub-dividing, splintering group. Also, this really wreaks havoc in the Final Boss's HR department, trying to keep all those employee paychecks straight.[note: I submitted a sick-day slip last wednesday; how come i didn't get paid for it?]
Rocketboom, fortunately, has been documenting the constantly changing intertubes landscape in a video series titled: Know Your Meme. Below is the installment entitled Chanology, which should get your dual-core back up to speed, if you're unfamiliar with the term.
denverpost.com ~ A 58-year-old businessman, Scientology minister and founder of an Adams County software company was arrested Friday on murder charges in a bizarre office shooting at the end of the year that left him injured and another man dead.
Adams County District Attorney Don Quick filed charges against William Rex Fowler in the shooting death of 42-year-old Thomas Ciancio, his former business partner at Fowler Software Design.
Investigators say Fowler shot Ciancio three times in the head with a 9mm Glock handgun when Ciancio came to Fowler Software Design to collect $9,900 in severance pay.[continued below video]
A quote from Fowler's Scientology success page certainly may need some updating. In it he says, "I was an angry young man looking for a group that might help solve the problems of this world, so I looked into Scientology." and goes on to say, "...together we WILL achieve a world without war, crime, and insanity." Okedokee, Rex.
KUSA-TV News9 - Man charged in shooting death of former business partner
continued... Police had originally thought Ciancio was the gunman but later described him as a victim.
Ciancio, who was Fowler Software's chief operating officer, resigned Nov. 23 in a dispute over the way the company was being managed.
On Dec. 29, Ciancio agreed to a settlement and to sign a waiver of release in exchange for the payment, company chief executive Laura Zaspel told investigators, according to a court document supporting the filing of charges.
Employees of the software company told investigators Ciancio had blamed Fowler for the company's recent financial difficulties.
The employees said Fowler had taken about $200,000 of the company's money without asking and gave it to a church or charity, according to the arrest affidavit.
Ciancio had "become very frustrated with William Fowler," according to the arrest affidavit.
Ciancio arrived at 10 a.m. Dec. 30 to collect his check. He chatted with employees, asked about their holidays and was preparing to attend his son's birthday party later that day.
Ciancio asked to speak to Ubaldo Ciminieri, the company's vice president of sales and marketing, but he had stepped away from his desk. Ciancio then went to Fowler's office.
Two minutes later, according to the affidavit, employees heard gunshots. Police were called by another tenant in the Elati Building, near West 84th Avenue and Elati Street in unincorporated Adams County.
When deputies arrived, they saw Fowler making his way through the front door, bleeding from the head. Investigators said he took one step past the threshold, then went back in. Police rushed into the building, escorted Fowler back out and called for an ambulance.
When Fowler tried to speak to deputies, blood poured from his mouth. They asked if Ciancio was still in the building, and he shook his head up and down to say "yes." They asked if Ciancio shot him and Fowler did not respond, investigators said.
Fowler was taken to Denver Health Medical Center, where he underwent surgery for a wound from the bottom of his chin through the top of his head. During the surgery, police said, Fowler's hands were bagged to protect evidence of gunshot residue, which was later collected by investigators.
Inside Fowler's office, police found Ciancio's body. They said he appeared to have been sitting at a table when he was shot. They also found what they believe is the murder weapon and four 9mm Luger shell casings. They found a handgun magazine on the table and another in a closet in the office.
Investigators say the gun was registered to Andrew Hyung Fowler, 26, who lived at 1413 L. Ron Hubbard Way in Los Angeles when it was purchased. In interviews with police, Andrew Fowler said he gave the gun to his father for Christmas in 2007.
Police also found a briefcase and a typed note, dated Dec. 30 and signed by Fowler. The note said nothing confidential was in the satchel and that it should be given to his wife, Janet.
When Janet Fowler was interviewed by detectives, she demanded the briefcase.
"It is important to me and my church. It is religious material and I want it now," she said to investigators. "Even if you looked at it, and read it, you would not understand anything in it. Because it is way above a normal person and you would not know what it meant. I want it back right now."
Janet Fowler also reportedly told investigators that her husband "is a Scientologist and would not have gone without a fight. He would have grabbed a gun in a struggle and would not have let someone shoot him."
She also told investigators that Ciancio had sent e-mails to Rex Fowler, threatening to hire an attorney and sue over money he said was owed him.
Adams County officials said Fowler is in custody but would not say where he is being held. He was last known to be at Denver Health Medical Center, but his name no longer appears on patient rosters.
No court date has been set for Fowler.
Ciancio's family members said they did not want to comment on the case. Calls to Fowler's Broomfield home and to the Church of Scientology were not returned Friday.
Where is Tommy Davis, Scientology spokesperson? I'm all ready to hear the now famous line, "This guy’s a lunatic...", when anything goes amuck in Scientology.
Several websites that scrutinize Scientology have been following this case, with links to records that allegedly reveal Fowler was a senior Scientologist. The sites claim that Fowler Software was a member of the World Institute of Scientology Enterprises. According to the arrest affidavit, Ciancio's brother gave investigators four binders of Scientology materials that Fowler had given to Ciancio, asking him to study the religion.
WWP's planning board tells of a Scientology protest to take place in Sydney, Australia today, at and around Scientology ANZO org on Greek St.
Originally, the big controversy was an ex-scientologist, Aaron Saxton, was being barred from protesting via a restraining order,[this is now unverified, and may have been a ruse to keep Saxon from attending] because he was so well known in that particular Scientology org. To combat this, Anonymous provided printable masks, so as create an ocean of Aarons.
Aaron Saxton, one of the Australians that submitted abuse reports to Nick Xenophon in november, is a very vocal opponent of Scientology and it's Sea Org group. More about Saxton can be learned at his YouTube channel, AaronSaxtonSpeaks.
Past-President of AU Scientology Goes 'NUTS' on Protesters Information is flowing in now: According to sydanon's twitter feed, and WWP's post-protest thread. [video was retained by protesters, should be available soon]

Scientolgist Loses It. Assaults Protesters Original video by Zhent.(Thanks Evil) Innocent Anonymous members assaulted by Mark Hanna, ex President of Sidney CoS(AU).
Scientologist Involved in Alleged Assault & Indecent Assault During a 16/01/10 protest against Scientology's abuses in front of Scientology's Greek St headquarters a man approached the protest group, providing a card identifying himself as "Mark Hanna", purportedly an employee of a law firm. He said he had a message for Aaron Tweddell (aka former Scientologist Aaron Saxton). He then proceeded down Greek St, approaching Aaron. A photographer on the footpath in front of him was grabbed and hugged by Hanna against his will. Hanna attempted to kiss the photographer against his will. Hanna was restrained by a bystander. While restrained he grabbed a camera from another bystander and refused to return it until nearby police officers approached. Video footage has been provided to police and assault charges are being laid.
Older Recap: Their raid was full of lulz, I was told that they spoke on the bull horn for nearly four hours in front of AOSH ANZO.
Then a very strange thing happened, [Rev] Mark Hanna, Vicky Dunstan's first husband and the President of the Church of Scientology (ANZO) up until recently, came out and handed his card to Kooka [a protester], which read; Mark Hanna, Lawyer. She[the protester] said he was shaking.
He[Hanna] then went up the street and spat on one Anon[a protester?], tried to kiss another[see photo] and snatched the I-phone from a third before he was restrained by the lawful Anons[protesters].
Here's the big news, it was in front of media and was captured by several phones and cameras. It will be aired nation wide in the news tomorrow.
Mark Hanna is currently being questioned by the police.
The funny thing is that Aaron was trying to obtain the "Temporary Restraining Order" that was supposedly to be served, the Glebe police knew nothing of it.
So, all in all the Anons had a very big day full of win.

Kazakhstan Today – The widely-noted trial of the “Narconon” center, which is connected with the religious Scientology organization, ended today in Pavlodar, reports the Kazakhstan Today news agency.
Pavlodar City Court Number 2 issued a guilty verdict against the 25-year-old director of the "Narconon" center and sentenced her to a heavy fine of 7,700 dollars*. The court stated that the convicted defendant has the right to legally appeal the decision within 15 days.
As previously reported, the defendant was charged under Article 190 of the Kazakhstan Criminal Code (illegal business activity). According to the charges, the Narconon rehabilitation and educational center where she worked was engaged in the illegal practice of medicine and provided services to persons suffering from drug or alcohol addiction.
The trial was the result of operations carried out on November 20, 2008 by the Department of Economic Crimes and Corruption. The financial police found that the “Narconon” center had archives containing almost a thousand files labeled “confidential” concerning persons who received services.
In addition, during the search, police seized “accounting documents, 134 packages containing various kinds of medicinal preparations that did not specify the country of origin, a large number of Scientology-oriented books, a program describing the 'Purification' course, a program for the application of medicinal preparations, advertising and promotional materials."
In all, police seized more than 60 boxes of documents, religious literature, and medicinal preparations not registered in Kazakhstan. The financial police reported that "Narconon" patients were misled and that the money received by the organization's leadership was labeled as voluntary donations.
"The forensic chemical analyses of the substances seized during searches concluded that all the substances under investigation, with few exceptions, were medicinal preparations (vitamins, dietary supplements, food products) that are not registered in the state registry of medicines of the Republic of Kazakhstan and that their use in the territory of Kazakhstan is prohibited. The therapeutic doses of active substances in certain vitamins and dietary supplements greatly exceeded the permissible limits," said the financial police.
*The fine is 900 MCI (Monthly Calculated Indexes), 1 MCI = 1,273 tenge, $1 US = 148.75 tenge. ThanX to WWP for the link and translation.

Police Return Firearms To Anonymous Protester Las Vegas Sun:~ Las Vegas Justice of the Peace Eric Goodman on Thursday ordered Metro Police to return everything they seized in a midnight raid last month at the Las Vegas home of anti-Scientologist Colby Schoolcraft. Lt. Kevin McMahill of Metro’s Counter Terrorism Section said police are disappointed that they have to return the weapons in the middle of the investigation. Police expect to decide whether to ask the district attorney to file charges against Schoolcraft within the next couple of weeks. Among the items SWAT officers and counterterrorism detectives took were several rifles, including a semi-automatic Yugoslavian AK-47, and numerous boxes and cases of ammunition.
Schoolcraft is a member of the Internet-fueled group Anonymous, which has embarked on a worldwide campaign to harass the celebrity-laden church. In court papers arguing for the return of the property, which also includes computers and anti-Scientology materials, Schoolcraft’s attorney, Chris Rasmussen, insisted Schoolcraft is just a gun enthusiast who is not planning to commit any acts of violence. “I don’t think it’s a blow to our case, but certainly we would have liked to keep those weapons and ammunition out of his hands at this point,” McMahill said. Rasmussen said his client’s Web posting was misinterpreted by police and the Scientology church, which the lawyer alleged has a history of trying to suppress the free speech rights of its critics.
Police arrested Schoolcraft, 23, during the raid for allegedly making threats against the Church of Scientology over the Internet, but the district attorney’s office has not filed a formal criminal complaint.
Top attorneys for the Los Angeles-area-based church had asked police to investigate Schoolcraft, a camera buff who has posted videos on YouTube of his group’s protests outside the Las Vegas Scientology church. Both the Web posting and the videos were put up under the screen name “cameranonymous.”
Latest Video From WSMV News4 Nashille: A college student is suing the Nashville Church of Scientology, a security company and three off-duty Spring Hill police officers for $6 million. Thomas Parker said he was knocked to the ground, handcuffed and arrested, for nothing more than attempting to peacefully protest.
The Church of Scientology's grand opening turned into a grand mess when hired security arrested protesters. It would have been a he-said, she-said -- except that it was all caught on tape.
Parker was on his way to protest the grand opening. He was still blocks away when security guards cut off him and his group. Three off-duty officers working for Hayes Security and hired by the church took down Parker, handcuffed and arrested him.
The church had taken out permits to block the street for the wrong day.
Parker, through his attorney, Nathaniel Koenig, is suing all of the above-mentioned parties.
"I'm just hoping that right will be done," Parker said.
Brian Fesler, a Church of Scientology representative, said the group had threatened the church in the past.

Some Other Points Not Mentioned: Over at WWP, a thread entry lists a lot of what went wrong that day:
The degree of *uckup by Hayes guards and Scientology in this case is staggering.
• wrong day on permit, thus closing down a state highway without proper permit • place of arrest outside permit area • abysmal conflict handling skills • arresting when 44 trying to leave • excessive force • lying to public works • lying in the police • off duty officers not checked in with Nashville police • guards/officers not properly identified • interrogating the arrested person in an improper fashion, in public view • arrest happening in full view of both CoS executives and Hayes executives • high possibility that the CoS gave Hayes hysterical information about Anonymous that they knew was misleading • lying to the press for a while, before lawyers told them to shut up
Even one of these things on its own is bad enough. Taken together, you have the biggest cluster*uck I've ever seen made of a protest, except for those where people actually got killed. This is easily worse than that bike activist who got tackled in New York, and that was national news for months.
